The leather hub shiners have the Schwinn logo pressed into them. A couple of blue dice caps for the valve stems are a nice touch. Red, white, and blue handlebar streamers seemed to go with the style of the times. Installing a large, chrome Bermuda bell was one way to alert other riders that I was near. A blinking rear light for the seat post was my requirement, even if it looked out-of-place.
2020 also saw me spiral down the rabbit hole of custom frame building. There is something very appealing about a handmade bicycle and the way that these bespoke frames often break away from the norm with unique shapes and styling. It was during this hunt that I stumbled upon Mone Bikes. Mone builds some stunning handmade schwinn mountain bike frames and components, but it was his rebuild of a 1962 Schwinn twin bar that tipped me over from a casual fan to completely obsessed. This thing was too cool, hacked up rear end for shorter stays, beautiful gold brass gobs of brazing at all the key joints, handmade parts galore, tan minions…I was in love.
Schwinn Traveler is the best option for weekly commutes and weekend excursions with a twist of hybrid vintage and modern comfort. The frame of the cruiser is made out of steel and is retro-inspired. And with a rear cargo rack, you can bring all your essentials along for the ride.
Three other contemporary bike trends are related to cruisers. For decades, Latino car enthusiasts have been lowering the suspension on older American cars to build “lowriders”. These bikes usually feature a lower center of gravity, suspension forks, hot rod paint jobs, and large rear tires. Its mission is to provide customers with the highest quality products and services possible.
With 7-speed twist shifters, alloy caliper brakes, and 650 x 45c urban tires, this bike is ready for anything. The wide upright handlebars provide a relaxed riding position, schwinn cruiser while the large basket is great for carrying belongings.
