For the inside of the tent, when I was setting up my Ozark Trail room divider, I realized that the divider doesn’t even have a zip down the middle, for access into the other room. In contrast, my Ozark Trail 10-Person Tent has only ozark trail screen house 1 door at the front of the tent. And Ozark Trail doesn’t have the super cool hinged door feature that Coleman has. In fact, one of these doors is even a hinged D-door, which makes going in and out of the tent that much easier.
There’s a $30 Ozark Trail (Walmart brand) tent that I’ve been looking at and I wanted to know if anyone had any reviews on what their tents are like as I can’t seem to find anything online. I do like the tent, lots of space, easy to put up, but a couple of things I didn’t like, the front door zippers always get stuck on the little rain flap that covers the zipper. I sprayed the tent with camp dry because I knew it was going to rain the next day. Some rain did get in near the bottom of rear window. I had a Coleman tent in the past and payed twice the money and this tent is just as good as that one. I would love to have a tent with sturdy metal poles, but nobody seems to make a reasonably priced tent with sturdy poles any more. I don’t like D-shaped zippers because they don’t seem to last long term.
Also always put some form of plastic on the ground under the tent this keeps ground water from seeping up, finally keep bags away from the tent sides this reduces surface tension and leads to leaking. I had already decided this was it’s undoing when the final time I pitched it in the yard the fly ripped. The basin first started leaking at the start of its second summer outings. The cloth rapidly became UV brittle, and each time I pitched it I worried it might rip. The rain fly has a small 3-section pole that makes a nice bump out for an awning over the entry, but this feature fails in stormy weather, when it would be most useful.
These features all work together to make a tent feel more like your home away from home and less like a makeshift shelter in the woods. With that being said, there are a few things you’ll want to know going into your purchase. First, all Ozark Trail tents should be considered “fair-weather” shelters.
That doesn’t mean they all leak when it rains or collapse when it’s windy, but they simply aren’t built for bad weather. Light wind and rain should be fine, but you’ll want to take some steps to prepare for both (more on that below). I can’t handle a full weekend in this type of condition. So I spent the last year looking for a budget friendly sun shade. After researching many different models, I decided upon the Ozark Trail Sun Shade.
Very tall in the middle allowing me at 6 feet 3 inches tall and 260 pounds to finally be able to stand all the way up and not feel crowded in a tent. The closets seemed pointless when we bought it but have turned out to be a huge help. The square sides mean that the entirety of the floor space is fully usable, unlike more common dome tents.
Again if you are a family needing BIG tent at a great price that is durable and comfortable in ALL weather conditions this is a great tent for the price. During set up one of the guys stepped on one of the poles breaking it. During the night some of the snow broke the other pole (both were in the section at the very end). This was easily repaired with a coghlan’s tent pole repair kit.
