This Class-2 e-bike features a step-thru aluminum 6061-T6 frame for a comfortable ride especially if you like to bring a backpack or make frequent stops. Sturdy triple wall aluminum 26” x 36 H x 12G rims and 26” x 2.10in tires are ideal for a daily city cruise. Ostensibly, this is a more budget-oriented genesis mountain bike version of the Vapour Carbon. The aluminium frame is cheaper, although the fork is still carbon. Disc brakes remain present, but they have been changed to mechanical rather than hydraulic. The drivetrain is still a performance oriented 1×11 set up and, in all, this is still a competitive racing machine.

Life EV has partnered with an all-star network of high-quality component manufacturers that read like a “who’s-who” in the cycling industry. Among the more than 20 brands are SRAM, Promax, KMC, Avid, Gyes, Velo, Truvativ, Continental, and Kenda. In the summer months, the bluebells give way to lush clumps of ferns, predominantly the Soft Shield Fern and the Harts Tongue Fern. Autumn brings a wide range of fungi growing on old tree stumps.

Tyre clearance is increase to 38c, there are discrete mudguard and pannier mounts and an extra set of bottle bosses is present on the downtube. Versatility still pervades the frame, with downtube bottle bosses and mounts for a rear rack and mudguards. Although this bike can take on the commuting duties or a bit of cycle-touring, it is more suited to lively riding in the woods and on bridleways. A rim brake version is available in addition to the disc option and both come with Shimano Ultegra 2×11 groupsets. The maximum tyre size on bike is 28c, typical for rim brake set ups but relatively narrow for a bike with discs. But for races that are solely on roads, this should be more than adequate.

I wasn’t totally sure if that was just how it was, or if they were actually bad.

Genesis is known for offering budget-friendly bikes that cater to a wide range of riders. They provide a decent quality for the price, making them a suitable choice for beginners or recreational riders who are not looking to invest in high-end bikes. Again, at this price level, having quality brakes is unusual.

So what made me finally decide that I wanted to go through the trouble of returning the Incline, and trade it for the Boundary? Now there aren’t many things I don’t like about this bike, other than the following. This in the end though, is more of a personal preference thing, and you may have no problem with it! Other than some issues with the front derailleur I had, the shifters themselves did function as they were supposed to. After a lot of research, I had decided on the Schwinn Boundary, however once I arrived at the store the one I had just seen there had been bought, and I was left without a bike.

The 16 years old brand is mainly known for the conception of durable bicycles made of quality materials. Most of these bikes are reported by users as comfortable and reliable, some of which are record-breakers (bicycle touring in particular). Essentially an aluminium version of the Croix de Fer, the CDA features a genesis bike similar plethora of mounts and wide clearances but comes in at a significantly lower price. Part of this is down to the different frame material, but cheaper components are also a factor. Given the versatility of this frame, it is perhaps to be expected that there is a large number of different builds on offer.

It is available with flat bars and drop bars, carbon forks and steel forks, there’s even a titanium frame option. For each of the builds, there are different spec levels donated by a ‘10’ for the entry level and ’30’ for the top line. For those interested in dipping their toes into racing, or just want a sportier feeling bike, the Zeal range is Genesis’ entry level carbon option. The geometry is more aggressive than the endurance-oriented Equilibrium, but not quite as ‘head-down bum-up’ as the dedicated racers that are the Zeros. A solid steel range and a smattering of aluminium and carbon models brings the brand bang up to date.
