Uprights, Recumbents, Indoor Cycling

We’ve tested multiple Schwinn bikes and while we recommend most of them for home gym use, the ones on this list stand out as some of the best Schwinn exercise bikes. There’s a case to be made for every Schwinn exercise bike, but at the end of the day, it’s going to depend on what you want. It also has an impressive 25 levels of resistance, which according to customer reviews is whisper-quiet, 29 built-in workout programs, and a 300-pound weight capacity. We will say this bike is quite tough, so unless you have experience with air bikes already, you might want to look into more beginner-friendly models (our suggestion would be the AssaultBike Classic). But if you’re looking for a full-body workout that will tax your upper- and lower-body muscles, then Schwinn’s is a great choice.

A small, inward-facing, paddle-like extension at the tip of each handlebar provides a surprisingly satisfying surface to hold during out-of-the-saddle (standing) riding. The Schwinn IC4’s seat didn’t leave much of an impression in our tests—a good sign. During our testing, we rode the IC4 with cycling shoes compatible with its SPD clips; the bike has toe-cage pedals on the flip side for use with non-cycling shoes. Although the pandemic launched home workouts (and indoor-cycling classes in particular) to stratospheric popularity, these days exercise behavior is changing once again. Yet an increasing number of indoor-cycling bikes aim to deliver a connected-fitness experience to rival (or replicate) that of Peloton, the biggest name in the game. Schwinn stated that their goal is to make riding an exercise bike feel as much like outdoor biking as possible.

This one is also suuuper budget-friendly but still equipped for streaming with speakers, a charging port, and a tablet holder. The bike comes with 16 resistance levels, 13 programmed workouts, Bluetooth connectivity, adjustable handlebars, a padded contour seat, media rack, and LCD screen. But like other Schwinn bikes, the Schwinn 230 has Bluetooth capabilities to connect to cycling apps like Zwift or the Peloton app to help diversify your riding experience. You can also connect to Polar heart rate monitors via Bluetooth as well. One of my first road bikes was a Schwinn, and now as an adult I’m reviewing schwinn mountain bike—it’s crazy how life repeats itself sometimes. Getting your fitness equipment reviews from a team of dedicated certified personal trainers, CrossFit Level 1 Trainers, and competitive endurance athletes.

29 workout programs- this is a lot of workout variety, especially for a $600 bike. With this many options to choose from, getting bored with your workouts shouldn’t be an excuse. The 270 is build solid and can handle users who weigh up to 300 lbs, which is high enough to handle the majority of riders, but it’s actually fairly average when compared to other top models in this price range. As expected, the 270 is an upgraded version of the 230, offering more exercise programs, more resistance levels, and a more sophisticated display. You won’t see a lot of fancy bells and whistles on their exercise bikes. Even though the brand came to fame mostly through their road bikes, their exercise bikes have made quite a name for themselves on their own right.

With that in mind, are designed to feel, sound, and act much like a traditional bicycle. The IC4 is made for serious indoor cycling, and it comes with a race style seat. The seat is slim, performance-oriented, and perfect for the intense cycling workouts this bike was designed for. We found it quite comfortable, with ample padding and a pressure relief cutout. Riders who prefer a broader, more supportive seat will likely find the race seat to be a bit too narrow, and it can easily be swapped out for the seat of your choice.

This basically means you don’t have to step over any bar or structure to sit on the seat. The Schwinn 270 is hands down, the best recumbent bike from Schwinn’s range. The seating is ergonomic, the crank handles are perfectly positioned and I personally feel that the design puts less strain on my knees as compared to some of the other bikes I have tried. The Nordictrack Commercial VR21 is the most affordable recumbent bike in Nordictrack’s range. The other options are the VR25 & the R35, both of which are priced well above $1000.

If you struggle to plan your own workouts and need motivational entertainment, the Peloton is a great option. There’s even the option for individual profiles for household access, so perfect schwinn 3 wheel bike if you’re looking for a shared home bike option. Schwinn offers financing options via the Schwinn credit card, which is interest-free if you pay for your bike in full within 18 months.
