Schwinn Tailwind electric bike review

Schwinn has electric bikes that fit riders from 4’8″ all the way up to those who are 6’4″. We can’t stress enough how critical it is to choose the right-sized bike. Well-fitted bikes provide the most comfort and can make the difference between falling in love with cycling and simply struggling through mundane rides. Below, we offer suggestions based on your height, including one bike made specifically for tall riders. All Schwinn e-bikes are Class 2, which are the most widely accepted.

Is one of the leading electric Bike retailers in the US. We stock top global brands and offer expert advice. In terms of pricing, schwinn mountain bike this is not the cheapest e-bike you can buy. But it’s one of the least expensive ones you can buy from a bike company.

You can easily switch between power modes, and this is the closest thing to a throttle the bike has. The throttle helps on flat ground or very small hills. The 250 watt motor can’t push much up bigger hills but it’s a lovely help when you’re pedalling. I spend most of my time on dirt roads in assist level 2 in 2nd or 3rd gear. For the big hills it was a quick shift to the nice, easy first gear.

The front fork evens out the bumps on the pavement and the dirt. The mountain bike shape makes it easy to ride on rough schwinn electric bike trails as well. The balance with the the battery takes a bit to get used to but then it’s all fun anywhere you go.

Additionally, the weight of the bike makes it pretty inconvenient to carry up and down stairs on a regular basis. The Tailwind’s frame is meant for flat city or suburban riding, and, at the end of the day, Schwinn’s entire package here hits dead-on a really specific and growing demographic. There is a small but ever heightening interest in alternatives to gas automobiles in the US, and bicycles, as evidenced by bike-friendly cities such as Portland and Minneapolis. Less pedal-happy cities are beginning to see the advantages of cycling (less pollution, less car traffic) and taking steps to reform their towns. Simply put — plenty of people would rather bike to work than drive there, if distance and climate factors are in their favor, for reasons environmental and health-related. The Schwinn Coston DX is a Class 2 e-bike, which means that it has a throttle that is capable of reaching up to 20 mph without pedaling.

On the other hand, in the time I’ve had an e-bike, I have barely touched my poor Trek bike. E-biking is very powerful and addictive, and it has ruined traditional cycling for me, and I can’t decide if that’s a good thing. So, while my doctor, my therapist, and I all unpack that, this is my full review of the Coston CE e-bike from Schwinn. Ease of riding at higher speeds without battery assistance. So I can’t say that the Schwinn wins on value here.

Or, at least, get some good detail photos of parts otherwise not covered. Received the battery a week after ordering a back up battery for my ebike. It fits perfectly on my bike and is exactly as described. The simple, somewhat disappointing truth is that the Coston DX doesn’t stack up against other e-bikes of a similar price. At over $2,000, it should have better acceleration and range, and as a Schwinn it should have better craftsmanship.

The Schwinn Monroe 250 gets its 250 moniker from how many watts the hub drive puts out. This power level proved more than enough for me and my lifestyle, though there are models from other brands with 500 watts should you need even more. But, another thing to consider is that the Shimano Nexus 8 with Roller Brake retails for around $250 alone – so if you want one, this one comes with a whole 700C based electric bike attached! Throw a better battery and a better controller on it, and I bet you can get a whole lot more than 250W out of the motor as well. You shouldn’t ride this bike at night without some other source of lighting.

Very important to note; if there’s any part that you don’t see, please, don’t hesitate to ask through the email that is provided on the app, or website. Ecotric staff will get back to you quickly with an response. A small, easy to use console is on the left side of the handlebar. It’s got 3 buttons, up down and a power/enter button in the middle.

As a commuter e-bike, I’m also glad to see some good commuter specific parts, like the included fenders and the excellent lighting. Not only do you get typical head and taillights, but you also have LED frame lights built into the sides of the battery. That adds a nice nighttime glow to the bike to give you better side visibility – an area where most bikes are lacking. After leaving the cemetery, I pedaled a county road that unrolls over five hilltops with valleys in between.
