At the same time, my head wasn’t zero or six feet from the door, but about two or three feet at all times. Usually I share a 2- or 3-person tent when backpacking with others to split up the weight, but as mentioned we each needed to be self-contained so I brought my 1-person tent from Ozark Trail. Drape the rain fly over the tent so that the side with the pole sleeve is pointed down against the tent. Flex the ridge pole and secure each end by slipping it into a grommet that is built into the rain fly. Assemble your tent poles by snapping the nylon sections into the metal tube-shaped connectors.
It can be described as an semi-instant system because the roof/fly is with a pre-attached frame, and the remaining elements are then attached to it separately. A solar eclipse is an amazing phenomenon and truly unforgettable – just be sure to wear the correct eye protection when viewing one. Solar eclipse cardboard glasses may be cheap to buy, or even free, but don’t settle for a low quality design.
I still would not recommend it in extended rainfall or during storms. The bottom seam gives water a place to pool up and eventually leak into the tent. Seasons-wise and climate-wise, this is a summer camping tent or perhaps maximum for 1.5 – 2 seasons. They do not provide any info about the waterproof rating, also the fly is minimal and there are many openings on its three sides. So I would not put it to very serious tests in harsh weather conditions.
With that being said, Ozark Trail does a good job of seam-sealing their tents from the factory in most cases, and with a little help, these budget-shelters can keep you dry when unexpected rain hits. Take time to treat the entire tent with a DWR coating like Nikwax (not just the rainfly) and never leave the house without a tent repair kit in case disaster strikes. It’s a cool tent all around, but our favorite feature has to be the 360-degree views delivered courtesy of this yurt’s giant mesh windows. There are three of these large floor-level windows along the walls of the tent, plus the giant mesh doorway that can be left open in good weather. Layout wise is virtually identical to the Core Instant Cabin we evaluated for our 10 person tent roundup, but delivers those same massive interior dimensions for about $100 less.
Or maybe you just want a good pop-up tent so you don’t have to… I had no issues with the guylines, though it would be nice if they were reflective at night. The 14 steel stakes that came with the tent are just your standard tent stakes, nothing impressive. Some parts of the stitching aren’t that great as well, and there were fairly big holes, especially where the guylines are connected to the main tent body.
It’s equipped with a thermal shut-down system, tip-off switch, and oxygen depletion sensors for your safety. Even so, the roof openings have hoods over them, so there’s no easy way for water to leak through. It would ozark trail tent probably only protect against light rainfall as the materials aren’t specifically made for moderate or heavy moisture levels. This model follows a simple 3 step process, which is common among many instant editions.
These 4 mattresses take up the entire tent, and there’s hardly any space leftover for camping gear. The one exception to the rule here is for the larger cabin-style tents, especially those with an “instant tent” design that uses pre-attached poles. Again, Ozark Trail tents are mainly fair weather camping tents (so you won’t be hiking into the backcountry with them) which means weight and packed size aren’t a big priority.
This screened-in shelter also gets high points for its price, which is always a selling point with an ozark trail tent, but this one represents a particularly good value considering all its features. Large dome tents are also an option, and although they’re a little less flashy, they have some perks of their own. First off, dome tents are typically less expensive since they have fewer total parts and less sophisticated frames. Second, dome tents tend to fare better in bad weather because they’re rounded shapes are more aerodynamic. Ozark Trail tents are pretty much all “fair-weather” shelters, but dome tents get the advantage here. Thanks to the mesh on the back and seat of the chair, your body can enjoy refreshing air circulation even if you sit down on a hot day.
They mostly focus on family tents but also have smaller tents available for solo adventurers. I have no idea why they’ve even jumped into the smaller tent market because they do better with the family tents. If you do not want to spend much and need a tent for occasional use, this is the item to consider. You realize this if you compare it with yet another lighted tent, the Big Agnes Titan 6 mtnGLO tent.
