Thrift Store Find What Year Is Old Schwinn Cruiser w Springer Front End?

That’s the beauty of those early bicycling experiences; they’re ingrained in you whether you know it or not. Now, I’m not schwinn mountain bike 100% certain it was this exact model but it’s darn close. Definitely was a Schwinn Fleet though, I know that much.

New this year is optional Schwinn custom-designed Cruiser Carrier. When I bought this bike, my plan was to have some fun with it, and then sell it for a profit. I was able to buy it at half price, because I worked at the bike shop. I have yet to sell it, but 15 years of ownership have been great. It’s in near perfect condition after all that time.

Even back then, I enjoyed the freedom and adventure of traveling on streets and roads untraveled. No doubt, my grandparent’s bike continues to influence my attitude of the bike today.

With the bike, I could just ride down there, swing a bit, and ride back. Take in the scene at the beach, ride country roads or spin around town on a classic. The other is that it won’t fit in my station wagon. That means I have never ridden it at the beach. Which is a shame, because that is what a bike like this is made for. This bicycle has been refurbished to the Blue Tag standard which includes a 30 day warranty.

We also have the areas largest selection of BMX/Freestyle bikes and parts from Haro, odyssey and many others. I would go for relatively short rides, nothing crazy. Usually just little trips to a nearby store for candy and a soda or just roam around the neighborhood a bit. The freedom and fun of exploring parts of the neighborhood, streets I hadn’t been on before, was liberating. There were lots of alleyways which, back then, were fun to ride through.

The Cruiser 5 has

5-speed gears and hand brakes for greater versatility and range. 5-speed versatility, gutsy balloon tires and the reliability of the world- famous Schwinn cantilever frame. Forged steel front fork, heavy duty saddle and the “look” of a classic. The leather hub shiners have the Schwinn logo pressed into them. A couple of blue dice caps for the valve stems are a nice touch. Red, white, and blue handlebar streamers seemed to go with the style of the times.

I made sure this bike was as perfect as possible. Down the street was a school with a playground that had a swing. Before I was big enough to ride the bike, my grandmother would walk me down to the playground so I could swing on the swing a bit.
