My Epson printers have been left unused for up to half a year. I have never experienced clogging that would not be solved by a single nozzle clean cycle. Can’t afford a new pigment ink printer, but if I could I would get the Canon Pro-300. I would make sure drivers are still available for the most recent Mac OS.

In short, whatever you need from a printer, Epson probably has it in one of its lines. In this overview, we’ll highlight both what application and what sort of user each of Epson’s family sub-brands is meant for, and discuss the key characteristics that define each. Immediately below are our top tested epson laser printer Epson printers for a variety of applications, followed by our guide to the Epson families. Whatever your printing needs are, Epson likely offers a model that fits them. Here’s our guide to Epson’s many printer families, plus our top tested printer picks to help you find just the right one.

And it proved the perfect balance with high-quality prints at impressively fast speeds. Epson printers will be familiar to most home and office users – a recognizable and trusted brand with years of experience. But that long history means the company has produced its fair share of printers in its time. That can make it a challenge to figure out which Epson printer is best to choose.

It’s too bad, because while purchase prices can be hard to swallow, a solution like the EcoTank is probably a lot more cost-effective in the long run. On the Epson inkjet printers, the IC can print up to 43.75” wide on a variety of Epson print media. Print jobs are calculated by the square footage of the image size.

Canon’s large, 80 mL ink tanks last a bit longer than Epson’s 50 mL tanks, but the Epson tanks lasted long enough in our tests that they weren’t a problem for us. Canon ink is also cheaper by 15¢ per milliliter when you purchase individual cartridges and by 19¢ per milliliter when you buy bundles. That can add up if you print a lot, as we expect that owners of a large printer like this would, but we still believe that the Epson P900 is a better wide-format choice overall. Its wireless printing is just as fast as its wired printing. No matter how we sent data to the printer— Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or USB-B—our prints finished at the same speed. At equivalent print-resolution settings, the Epson P900 was regularly faster than the 17-inch Canon PRO-1000, though depending on the paper, sometimes only marginally.

Epson also offers point of sale (POS) printers, some (necessarily noisy) 9- and 24-pin dot matrix models, and even models for commercial printing of labels on CDs and DVDs, some of which burn the discs as well as print the labels. We’ll ignore those categories here, except to mention the family names where appropriate. This is a compact printer that produces pleasingly high-quality photos. Similarly to its wide-format printers, Epson twins the model with its premium Claria ink cartridges to print stunning color photos.

As a petite Epson printer, it lacks a few features we would’ve liked to have seen, such as a USB or memory card port and duplex printing (an issue many portables struggle to deliver). However, since this is effectively a miniaturized color inkjet printer, it offers pretty much the same functionality you get with full-sized versions. Print speeds are also low – we clocked it running at approximately 7ppm (mono) and 4ppm (color) on epson inkjet printers mains power. HP makes a wider range of printers, including laser models, inkjet models, and even portable printers with a built-in battery, whereas Epson focuses mostly on inkjet printers. Epson printers are generally better for photo printing, and their EcoTank printers also have significantly better page yields than most HP printers. Replacement cartridge yields are based on ISO/IEC tests in Default Mode printing continuously.

Simplify device management and reduce energy costs by replacing copiers, fax machines, printers, and scanners with all-in-one inkjet printers. EcoTank owners have been requesting an ink tank photo printer for years and in 2021, Epson finally delivered. The Epson Photo ET-8500 is the first Ecotank printer designed for high volume photo prints and it’s a dream for any creative professional that prints often. Along with the expected print / scan / copy features,  it supports a wide range of media, including photo paper, presentation paper, fine art papers, card stock and CD / DVDs.

Most offer a large choice of label types, which you’ll want to check before buying to make sure the printer can print the kinds of labels you need. The first category, straight-up EcoTank, offers three-function AIOs at the low end, with flatbed scanning only, but adds faxing and an ADF as you move up the price scale. EcoTank Photo printers are aimed at scrapbookers, crafters, and creative professionals, and can handle printable optical discs. They offer six-color printing for better-quality photos and graphics, and can print at up to letter-size (for the ET-8500) or up to supertabloid-size (for the ET-8550). The WorkForce Pro WF-7840 wide-format multifunction printer produces beautiful prints up to 13 by 19 inches.
