If you plan to camp a few times a year, and mostly at campsites, the Big Bay will save you money and keep you as warm. Its sand-proof and waterproof features make it an excellent choice for beach trips, hikes, and festivals. When unfolded, it offers plenty of room for you and your companions to enjoy the outdoors comfortably. When it’s time to go, simply fold it up and store it in the small portable bag. Its lightweight design and durability make it a convenient and reliable companion for your outdoor adventures.
The insulation doesn’t shift, which reduces cold spots and boosts durability. The soft cotton flannel lining and cotton cover are bound to keep you warm in the coldest months or areas. Special design features like the Thermolock draft tube prevent sleeping bag heat loss common through zippers. If you’ve ever had a pad deflate or slept directly on the ground in cold weather, you know firsthand the importance of an insulated pad beneath you. Additionally, integrated blankets, interior pockets for stowing small items like a headlamp, and draft tubes at the collar for trapping warmth are becoming more common. The Coleman Big Game is also durable thanks to its fiberlock construction that reduces cold spots and stops insulation from shifting. This sleeping bag is highly portable due to its easy-to-roll and pack design. If you don’t want a Coleman sleeping bag designed to heat up and/or store heat at night, the Coleman Sun Ridge comes highly recommended. When not using the Big Bay sleeping bag, store it in a large, breathable bag.
There’s no fumbling in the night for the zipper pull, and you don’t have to worry about snags or heat loss (if the bag lacks a good draft tube). But in the end, we don’t see the zipper-less concept completely taking over the market. Put simply, the in-and-out convenience and ability to use the bag as a blanket with a full-zip sleeping bag is the better answer for most campers.
During summer months or warm nights, you can use the basic synthetic-insulated bag with its 40-degree limit. Then, as the temperature drops, zip on the 800-fill goose down midlayer (to 20°F) or add the third section on top for winter camping (5°F rating). At less than 4 pounds with all layers connected, the One Bag is streamlined, lightweight, and reasonably packable. The rest of the design is equally premium, including coleman lantern a water-resistant YKK main zipper, roomier-than-average hood, and fleece-lined compression sack that can pull double duty as a pillow. However, that bag doesn’t come cheap at $320, and car campers uninterested in roughing it can save a considerable $100 with the Forte Endless Promise 20.
