The Ozark Trail XXL Director Chair is a reasonably comfortable, versatile camp chair, offered by a reliable company. A definite smart design choice, the ceiling vents are a massive advantage for and ultimately have two purposes. All these contenders dried well on the trail, taking a similar amount of time to dry on foot. It’s also small enough that it wasn’t inconvenient for them to have it with them everyday. I sweated just a bit but not too much since the walk was short (and I didn’t want to sweat after a shower). I did finish my activities very sweetly and was able to walk and hike without carrying anything in my hands. Fit and finish were pretty good — no loose seams or stitching.
I pack needed items in small containers when possible to save weight. No need for a tube of foot cream or sunscreen, so I estimate what might be needed and pack that amount. As you can see from the photo, I still had foot cream, sunscreen, first aid cream, and Dawn Soap at the end of eight days. The floss is for size reference, but I’m looking for smaller floss containers. I despise plastic floss picks when I see them in the woods.
With a hard plastic latch, you run the risk of brushing by the cooler and hitting your shin, which I have done and is awful. One of my favorite features though is the rubber wheels vs. the hard plastic wheels on the Pelican and Yeti. Not only will the rubber allow for a slightly smoother roll when you are pull this cooler along, but it will also be quieter.
The stitching wasn’t as good as the premium brand but, it was still a well-built bag that should last if I didn’t over stuff it. Includes compression straps on the sides to keep your gear stable. This pack has a lot of extra storage pockets for organization of your gear. Has a hip belt to displace the load off your shoulders. Of course it has no side water holsters, or lid pocket, or hipbelt strap, but I think that all contributes to its low weight.
I’m using my North facing deck as the staging area which receives direct sunlight at almost all hours of the day. I also placed a small weather system on the deck rail to help get a sense of how hot surface temperatures are in the area.
