It features rubber latches which I am a huge fan of for boating applications. When you are out on the water, people often sneak over to grab something from the cooler and may not latch it back up. With a hard plastic latch, you run the risk of brushing by the cooler and hitting your shin, which I have done and is awful. ozark trail canopy One of my favorite features though is the rubber wheels vs. the hard plastic wheels on the Pelican and Yeti. Not only will the rubber allow for a slightly smoother roll when you are pull this cooler along, but it will also be quieter. You won’t wake the neighbors up when you are pulling this down your dock.

I also love the wide range of gear that allows us to travel further and eat and drink better while we are out exploring. It’s not as expensive but it’s also not as good both in terms of build quality and performance. When it comes down to it Ozark Trail is a cheaper rip-off of the Yeti Hopper series of coolers. The Yeti coolers are all equipped with tie down straps so you can strap down your cooler to your car, van, truck or boat and make sure it doesn’t move around at all. One of the first things to note about it’s design is that it has a larger drainage hole and a tethered drain cap, which is a nice feature. I have lost a couple of drain caps in my day which makes ozark trail cooler the cooler unusable until a replacement arrives. My own personal beverage drama every summer has really pushed me to do this review. To me, worrying about the temperature of the drinks I have on my boat is the absolute last thing I want to be thinking about when I am heading out on the water. Whether or not these fit and finish issues haunt you almost seems like luck of the draw. To achieve the extremely attractive price point that they did, Ozark Trail likely had to sacrifice a few things in the quality department. The result is a cooler that doesn’t have quite the level of fit and finish as, say, a Yeti or an Engel. To achieve these asking prices, some shortcuts in manufacturing and quality were necessary.

For me the quality just isn’t there so I wouldn’t invest in an Ozark Trail but would instead buy another brand like Yeti, RTIC or Engel. The only area where Ozark Trail is better than Yeti is in the price. There is a great video where a customer who owns both a Yeti Hopper and an Ozark Trail does as ice test on them and compares the performance side by side. Even compared to RTIC, which is the cheapest of the well known brands, Ozark Trail are still a fair bit cheaper. While it may not be the time of year to spend time outdoors, this is the perfect time to begin thinking about next summer while scoring a deal on a cooler!
