At the bottom, I keep a towel, first aid kit, and few other items, I may need. The easy access pockets (really just give you access to the main pack) I keep an extra pair of knee sleeves and socks. We like that this pack has a lot of pockets including a zipper that allows you to access the middle of the pack without opening the top. Includes Trekking pole ozark trail canopy attachment points, compression straps and a sleeping bag compartment. Of course it has no side water holsters, or lid pocket, or hipbelt strap, but I think that all contributes to its low weight. For the water bottles I just use Platypus .5 liter and 1 liter flat style bottles, which you can fit in the main body of the pack on top of your other gear.
Pack rain gear to stay warm and dry, and consider bringing one set of clothes to change into at camp as well as one or two sets of clothes for hiking. Exploring Missouri’s scenic Ozark backcountry is one of the best reasons to head out on the trail. The Ozark Trail Association marks and improves the trail and ensures backpacking campsites are well maintained. What’s more, the OT offers many things to see and experience for both seasoned and first-time backpackers. I don’t make it a habit of buying my gear from Walmart, but this was a excellent purchase.
It’s light enough that I don’t mind putting it in my backpack and it takes up almost no space at all. And on summit day, I sure am glad I have a daypack! For day hikes this is just as good as (and lighter than) my Osprey Daylite that retails for almost four times more.
There are also bottom compression straps for camp pads or other items. Other features include a rainfly and reflective accents for safety when hiking and the red recycled ozark trail chair polyester fabric material is a perfect unisex backpacking option. All though I’ve been hiking for years, my hikes have been short ones no more than a mile or two.
Trail maps are free to print at home or available for purchase at the online store. Water sources like rivers and streams ozark trail backpack may only be available seasonally. OT maps are a great resource to help identify places where you can access water.
