Mongoose

Whether shop here at Albe’s BMX or at , we’re just stoked to help get these beauties to hardcore ‘Goose fans anywhere in the world. When I said Originally, I was referring to before the 1983 redesign. I.E, the early Motomag, Team, and Supergoose with the first gen drop outs and the double front gusset. The Motomag frames had a Cro Mo front triangle with a mild steel rear. I used to own and race on one of his personal aluminum Newman frame Californians, which was also made in Taiwan.

The Mongoose Hooligan AL 29″ Bike is a lightweight cruiser. The frame and rims are made from a durable lightweight aluminum while utilizing a steel… Ya but the carbon frames and the kinesis frames were usa, thats what I was referring to. Didn’t know about the craig reynolds mongoose mountain bikes frame though. Clearly there were many awesome US built frames, My MCS, Patterson, or my JMC cruiser are good examples, but realistically, those were not the same market niche as a Californian, a 500B, or a Mach 1. I dont own any American bikes, but I love my Taiwanese rides.

For instance, my 1990 Cro-Mo Mongoose Solution. April 1984 was when all “Chatsworth” production ceased … Brunswick sold Mongoose to Pacific Cycle in 2000 and Pacific Cycle was bought by Montreal-based Dorel Industries in 2004.

The mid to late 90’s aluminum Solutions were cool. The Mongoose 3-piece cro-mo (Solution?) cranks however were not. They broke if you looked at them the wrong way. I dunno, I have a 2012 Mongoose Solution 24 as my race mongoose fat tire bike bike. Other than a couple of small niggles (pedals and bars – the same things most people change! I also changed the gearing, but again personal preference) I reckon it’s a solid bike and worthy of the Mongoose name.

Skip Hess started BMX Products, Inc. out of his home in Simi Valley, California in September 1974 with his first product being the famous Motomag One wheel. According to Hess, at its largest stage of expansion, BMX Products, mongoose bmx bike Inc. employed about 85 people. In its early years, Hess recalled that about 600 frames per day were produced at its Chatsworth, Los Angeles location. The Legion L40 uses a 20.5-inch top tube, ideal for riders around 5’6”.

I have a Taiwanese 2000 Dyno Compe that I just adore. The thing rides so good that my daughter just bought a 1999 off of craigslist. Well, from reading the posts, some really stick to old school American made while others do not mind Mid school or things being made in Japan or Taiwan. For now, until I can afford that old school Super goose I will ride this loop tail and have some fun.

The Mongoose brand name is synonymous with BMX having been producing BMXs in the USA since 1975. The range expanded to MTBs in the 80s and their range of bikes has continued to expand since. Would you say that anyone with a major monkey on his back  (let’s just say, for instance a raging Cocaine addiction) would be able to do his very best work over and over consistently? Suffice to say, quality goods can and are produced in ways and places that would surprise us.

Plus, the unique Mongoose Pro Class drilled aluminum rims offer performance that won’t weigh you down. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy a ride on the legendary California Special by Mongoose. Modeled after the iconic 1984 Supergoose, this BMX bike is sure to turn heads around the neighborhood or at the track. Just like it’s predecessor, it features a durable 4130 Chromoly Supergoose loop-tail frame with retro-style top tube pad for ultimate radness. The single speed drivetrain is simple to use and maintain, while the DiaCompe MX brake kit delivers super-fast, reliable stopping power.
