Ozark Trail Camping Tents for sale

A camper can buy anything from a single tent to a family-size version at a reasonable price point. Some 1-person tents will have two major spars or spines that cross for the main support structure. In the Ozark Trail tent, it has only one spar traveling down the center lengthwise with a single rib to open up the area in the middle. The four or six tent pegs hold the structure down but are crucial for the tent to stand by itself. The Ozark does need those pegs in the ground to be self-standing so setting up on rocks would be infeasible (at least without applying some clever tenting skills).

Future users may want to seal or waterproof the seams a little better. I also liked how my head wasn’t directly beside the door, which often occurs for an end-door tent. If something crawled through the zipper door it wouldn’t immediately be inches from my face but instead would have to work its way a few more feet to my head. At the same time, my head wasn’t zero or six feet from the door, but about two or three feet at all times. Beyond getting a great start with a tent, we also share lots of other camping supplies that you will need in our Camping Gear List here.

This is largely due to the tent’s design, as dome tents overall perform better in bad weather than cabin tents. This 11 person instant cabin tent is an excellent option for those who want a tent that’s less like a hallway and more like a big room. The main area is huge, giving you and the family plenty of room to enjoy each other’s company. For cons, there’s only 1 door in the entire 10-person tent, there’s almost no ventilation at all when it’s raining, and it also leaks within just 15 minutes of light rain. The Ozark Trail 9 Person Cabin shares the same shortcomings as the other discount cabins found in the Ozark Trail lineup, most notably being its weather protection and durability. As far as fairweather shelters go, however, this one may be the best value in terms of livability for your money.

While it might not sound like much, that is a difference of 64 sq. Ft. of shade coverage which we find to be quite significant. You’ll be able to comfortably fit up to 4 chairs underneath the 64 sq. The benefit of the slanted legs is that these tents are more stable laterally which can increase the stability of the frame and make it less prone to toppling, an important benefit if on a windy beach. Although we always recommend using anchors such as weighted sand bag or stakes with guy lines attached to the top corners. The biggest issue in all of this is the inability to withstand any rotational pressure during medium and high impact weather conditions as the joints become unstable and collapse at the mid points.

At least it is easy to clean and provides bug protection. Again, I AM a soldier with nearly 30 years experience in putting tents together. I have a design change suggestion but I do not see an email address anywhere; therefore I cannot submit it to someone who can do something about it. It sucked the trip the camping everything because the damn zipper broke and I got beast up on by mosquitoes and bugs. You kick back in an Ozark Outdoors Resort luxury river tube; tip your toe in the water, and watch drops trickle off your fingers….

We could fit a queen size airmattress inside comfortably for car camping, but it was very light for hiking. It held up very well through high winds with it staked out. We did have a problem with it leaking during a monsoon (thanks west Texas!), but a $5 can of waterproofing fixed that for the following rainy trip.

Finally, the material of this shelter is noticeably higher quality than many Ozark Trail tents, but the 68D polyester is still not as thick as we’d like. No Ozark Trail tent is perfect, but as far as full-size family camping tents go, this is the one to beat. Such a quick setup time is due to its poles that are a) telescopic, and b) pre-attached to the tent.

I LOVE the room first of all , and the looks were very eye pleasing too. We set the tent up in the ozark trail chair yard, only took us about 15min. I have the JW-7607 which is a 2-3 (read that as two) person tent.

In windy conditions high stress is applied to each side and the frame begins to break down at the unreinforced joint connectors. On the other hand, I’ve had some of my Coleman Tents for about 3 to 4 years now, and I never noticed any of the tent fabric becoming sticky. And the steel poles of my WeatherMaster tent are still holding up fine. The number of windows and the size of the windows in Ozark Trail Tents is also lacking when compared to Coleman tents. I also noticed that the fabric of most of my Coleman Tents tend to stay dry in light to moderate rain, and would only start getting wet after 45 minutes to 1 hour of super heavy rainfall. As for my Ozark Trail 10-Person Tent, it was able to stay dry only for about 10 minutes of mostly light rain and some moderate rainfall, not even heavy rain.

Tunnel tent, five room, L-shaped, the list goes on and on. Pick what kind of shape you want your tent in, Ozark Trails will have it. Simple – it’s a feature-packed tent that provides all the benefits of a large tent while minimizing the negatives. And if this tent is too large, it also comes in a 6-person and 4-person version as well. This right here is the perfect tent for beginner campers.
