Weighing just 2.9 pounds for a size long, the Galactic is very lightweight among the rectangular, traditional car-camping models. It’s not exactly built for backpacking, but it also packs down small enough that we would certainly consider it for short hike-in campsites if we didn’t have another option. This high-quality bag offers a lot of perks at a very reasonable price point.
Used for its intended purpose, this is one of the best hiking/backpacking deals I’ve ever come across. I sweated just a bit but not too much since the walk was ozark trail chair short (and I didn’t want to sweat after a shower). I did finish my activities very sweetly and was able to walk and hike without carrying anything in my hands.
It’s been stuffed to capacity with almost everything I had to carry, including, but not limited to, outerwear, lunch, groceries, laptop, iPad, a Bose speaker, and combinations thereof. I am a 6-foot tall male, weighing 185 lbs and it fits just as well as other day packs I’ve tried. My shoulders did not chafe nor rub or irritate while walking and I did not get any bruising on my hips.
When considering this bag’s 5.5-pound packed weight and reasonable price point, we think the manufacturer could give it more breadth without impacting its overall value or function. However, all measurements aside, this 20-degree bag is really cool — in a good way. If you want a ozark trail chair more woodsy look, the Teton Sports Deer Hunter sports a hood and a more traditional lumberjack vibe. No more searching for your pillow in the middle of the night. The Siesta Hooded is available in standard length and long lengths, but it does fall a bit short in width. Some of our larger-bodied testers felt a more spacious design would offer more comfort.
